Where Curiosity Meets Hope

With Liaquat Ahamed @ The Nantucket Book Festival

Liaquat Ahamed in conversation with Michael Schulder at the Nantucket Book Festival

Liaquat Ahamed won the Pulitzer Prize for Lords of Finance, his history of the central bankers whose decisions helped bring on the Great Depression. His new book, 1873, reaches back to the first truly global financial boom — and the bust that followed. I sat down with him at the Nantucket Book Festival to ask the question a lot of readers are asking right now: with hundreds of billions of dollars a year pouring into artificial intelligence, is 1873 a preview of what’s to come?

Michael Schulder: From a Researcher at ABC News; To a Writer at The MacNeil-Lehrer Newshour on PBS; To my five years as a Writer for Peter Jennings at ABC World News Tonight; And 17 years as a Senior Executive Producer at CNN.
