I interviewed Ted Turner in a CNN Radio studio in 2013. The launching point for our conversation was a new book by journalist Todd Wilkinson called “Last Stand: Ted Turner’s Quest to Save a Troubled Planet.” We talked about the inspiration he derived from Jacques Cousteau; the vast swaths of land he bought out west and why he chose to focus on protecting buffalo and prairie dogs. We also discussed his legendary frugality in CNN’s early days; his love of the classics; why he paid me so little; and much more. It’s a small window on a man who had a global impact.
